Are LED pendant lights bright enough for a whole room?
On their own, no, and they are not meant to be. A single pendant lights one zone well, the table or the island, so treat it as one layer in the scheme. For an even base of light across the ceiling, LED ceiling lights carry that job, while ceiling spotlights aim a tighter beam at a worktop or a reading chair. Run them together and no single fitting has to do everything.
How to choose an LED pendant light
Start with the drop. A long flex suits a stairwell or a high open-plan kitchen. A shorter one sits better at a bedside or under a low ceiling. Over a dining table, hang the shade so the base clears eye level when you are seated, roughly 70cm above the surface. Check the fitting too. Many take a standard E27 or B22 bulb you can swap, while some have an integrated LED you cannot. For light that flatters a room rather than flattening it, choose warm white 2700K, and a dimmable holder if you can, for quieter evenings.
