The frame is a real bamboo stem, tall and slender, holding a finely pierced cylindrical shade. The contrast is the point: solid wood against something light enough to see through. Light comes out filtered rather than direct, and it picks up the texture of the fibre on the way. On a living-room wall it reads as a decorative object as much as a light; beside a bed it does the work of a reading lamp without looking like hardware. It suits a zen room or a plant-heavy one.
